The 60-Second Rule to Live By
Lazy Clutter—Let’s Talk About It
At some point, we’ve all created lazy clutter. I’m not talking about the kind of mess that happens when you’re genuinely crunched for time. I mean the dirty coffee cup that got left out before your morning walk. The toothbrush still sitting next to the bathroom sink. The laundry piling up on the floor, just shy of the hamper.
Listen—no judgment. But we can do better!
Lazy clutter is actually the easiest type of clutter to conquer. It’s the no-brainer, easy-to-spot, in-your-face kind of clutter. And here’s the key to conquering it:
If something takes less than 60 seconds to do—and you’re not rushing out the door to get to church on time (ahem)—JUST DO IT. Like, right now.
You’ll be amazed at the difference this simple 60-second rule can make. It adds up over time, gives you instant gratification, and leads to real decluttering wins.
Not sure if something will actually take under a minute? Have fun with it and time yourself! Most of us overestimate how long small tasks take—especially ones we don’t want to do.
So goodbye, lazy clutter.
It is time for you to go. (Pun totally intended.)
